General information about Konstantinovo

The State Museum-Reserve of S. A. Esenin is located in the village of Konstantinovo, 40 minutes away by car from Ryazan. The great Russian poet Sergei Aleksandrovich Esenin was born and spent his early years here in 1895.

The poet was born into a simple peasant family. The house where he was born and the Zemstvo school where he studied have been preserved on the territory of the Konstantinovo Museum-Reserve.

Also among the objects of the spacious reserve, which covers several dozen hectares:

· Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, where Yesenin was baptized;

· house of the priest John Smirnov, who baptized the poet and married his parents;

· Zemstvo school, which Yesenin attended.

But the main treasure of the village of Konstantinovo is its extraordinary, breathtaking expanses, floodplains, hills, and the full-flowing Oka River.

There are several viewing platforms with benches on the territory of the museum-reserve, and all the platforms are connected by paths. Visitors can descend the stairs directly to the banks of the river and walk through the places that inspired the great Russian poet, «Ryazan Lel.»

How to get to Konstantinovo:

From Ryazan

From Ryazan, you can take a long-distance bus from the central bus station in Ryazan to the Konstantinovo Museum-Reserve. Ask the ticket office for a ticket to Konstantinovo. The bus route is Ryazan — Rybnoe — Konstantinovo — Vakino, and the journey time is 1 hour and 20 minutes.

From Moscow:

From Moscow you can get on the train-express from the Kazan station, or on the Moscow-Ryazan train; you need to go to the station «Fish». Next, take a bus or minibus number 132.
